NEW WEBSITE FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS AND ACTIVITIES
Ditton Parish Council
KCC Cllr Andrew Kennedy recently held a meeting with representatives from some of our local community groups and organisations. Andrew wants to work with others to establish what community groups we have and how to let everyone know what is available in our area.
As a result he is looking to establish a Community Groups and Activities Website
The following is from Andrew:
I am in the process of building a new website, which will allow all local residents to access details of the many community groups that meet locally.
I am keen to include as many groups and activities as possible, for example:
* Breakfast clubs / coffee mornings / lunch clubs / afternoon tea groups
* Singing groups / music / choirs
* Walking / hiking / rambling
* History / Historical societies
* Twinning societies
* Book clubs / reading
* Craft / hobby groups
* Knitting / sewing / dressmaking
* Parent Teacher Associations
* Dementia groups and cafes
* Church groups
* Food banks
* Litter picking / community activity
* Sporting clubs (football, bowls, rugby, petanque. netball)
* U3A / Active Retirement Associations and similar
* Fitness / zumba
* Guides / Brownies / Cubs / Scouts / Boy's Brigade
* Dancing
* Men's Shed groups
* Slimming /weight loss
* Gardening
* Parent & baby / toddler groups
I suspect I have missed out many types of groups, but all are welcome to be listed, provided you are welcoming to new members.
In addition to the new website, there will also be a printed version available via parish councils, churches, shop counters and community groups to ensure those who are not digitally connected may also access what is available.
If you run a community group, activity or event, and would like to be listed on the new website, please complete all sections on the form.
To ensure the correct information is gathered and it is in the correct format, please only use this link: tinyurl.com/communityactivityregister
Group organisers can simply click on the link and enter the information they want in the public domain.
Please take great care in providing accurate information, as what you enter will appear on the new website (and in the printed book). Please also be aware that the contact details you enter will be published in the public domain, so only provide a phone number or email address if you are happy for this to be published.
My aim is to gather all the data by the end of March and to launch the new website at the start of summer.
If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]
Thank you.
