The French town of Rang du Fliers is located on the Côte d'Opale (the Opal Coast), 6 Km inland from the beach of Berck sur Mer, in the Montreuil sur Mer area.
L'harmonie Independante (the Town Band from Rang-du-Fliers) together with the Town's Majorette Troupe, travelled to Ditton to take part in the Annual Ditton Community Day on Sunday, 26th June 2011. The Community Day itself is a joint Annual project between St Peter's Church and Ditton Parish Council.
The Band had learnt the music in advance to accompany the hymns sung during the Open-Air Service on the Village Green. They marched from the Community Centre down to the Village Green, courtesy of the local Police, who agreed to the road being closed for a short time. After the Service they performed again for visitors enjoying the sunshine in the Junior School Grounds.
The entire Party (100+) were the guests of Ditton Twinning Association for lunch before the proceedngs begun, together with some local people who had volunteered their services as French speakers.
A very big thank you to all who helped in anyway on the day to make it so very successful.

Timetable for the day:-
11.30 a.m. (approximately) – Arrival of the Band, Majorettes and other visitors at Ditton Community Centre.
12 noon – Lunch at the Community Centre.
2.40 p.m. – The Band and Majorettes marched from the Community Centre to the Village Green.
3.00 p.m. – Open Air Service with music from the Rang-du-Fliers town band.
4.00 p.m. (approximately) – Cream teas and a hog roast will be served in the Junior School.
6.00 p.m. - End of the Community Day.
